Jan Philippo (58) grows roses in Kalmthout, Belgium. His fixed gas contract expires at the end of 2025, at which time he’ll be sixty and he intends to quit. „After that, large investments will be needed in LED lighting, roses and CHP installations, which I have no desire to make anymore.”
What can you tell us about your company?
”We are rose growers with 3 hectares of greenhouses. For a long time, we grew two varieties and were focussed on exporting to the UK through the Rijnsburg auction. Meanwhile, we are growing many additional varieties, and we have hardly exported to the UK since Brexit. We now sell our product through the Rijnsburg auction and the Euroveiling auction in Brussels.”
