Euro Plant Tray (EPT) has its origins in spring 2021, when German environmental organisation Deutsche Umwelthilfe called upon several floriculture chain parties to account for their sustainability, or rather the lack thereof. Under the name Flowertrays, some eighty chain parties then started developing a European standard for a multi-use tray.
Eight parties, including VGB, founded a cooperative association in Cologne, Germany, in August 2022: Euro Plant Tray eG. This cooperative currently has 30 members from Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, France and Norway.
