Together with MPS and Global Gap and through FSI, Royal FloraHolland is working on a simple certification method for small growers. By offering this support, the auction seeks to retain small growers within the organisation.
On Thursday 7 December, the members’ council of Royal FloraHolland (RFH) approved the member packages. Many small growers are expected to opt for the Klok Focus (Clock Focus) package. This not only gives them access to the auction clock, but also includes additional services, such as contact between grower and auctioneer.
“Together with FSI, Global Gap and MPS, we are also investigating how to add sustainability support to this member package, so as to retain the small growers for our organisation”, said CEO Steven van Schilfgaarde at Cooperative Day (Dag van de Coöperatie). The certificate that is being developed by RFH and MPS needs to be simpler and cheaper. The members’ council will discuss certification in the first quarter of 2024, and several proposals to support small growers are already on the table.
