With the arrival of December, it is once again time for the traditional rankings! The most popular songs of 2025, personalities who made an impact this year… Well, you know what I mean.
We create our own at our office in Quito: What are the most talked-about moments of this year? Which rose varieties did we purchase the most? And who were our largest suppliers? Every year, I incorporate all of this into my Christmas dinner speech. One of the highlights? Without a doubt, the progress we have made in emphasising the importance of FSI and certification. And definitely the optimisation of our airfreight cargo on the routes to Amsterdam.
The Ecuadorian police also presented a remarkable, though less cheerful ranking this week: a list of unnatural deaths in 2025. Topping that list was… murder! No fewer than 52 people per 100,000 inhabitants are killed – compared to 0.7 in the Netherlands. In second place, with 23 per 100,000 inhabitants, are traffic fatalities – compared to 3.8 in the Netherlands. With both figures, Ecuador proudly heads the list of South American countries!
