It is my honour to send in my column for Floribusiness. I am not one to look back, as I prefer to look forward. Still, you should always keep learning from history. That is why looking back occasionally is a good thing, both professionally and personally, particularly towards the end of the year. What went well, what didn't work out? Which objectives have been achieved and which were not?
2024 had its issues, some of which turned out alright. Others less so, calling for improvement. But as my mother always says: count your blessings. And there have certainly been a few of those in the past year. Especially considering the events taking place around the world. You won’t hear me lament, though, because there is nothing new under the sun.
For thousands of years, it’s been the same old tune of one person trying to make life unpleasant or even utterly miserable for another. There is plenty of misery under the sun, and there always will be. I am not a pessimist, however, but a realist. Which leads me to believe there are also quite a few blessings to be counted. Of course, plenty of people out there have had a difficult year. And I sincerely hope that the new year will turn out better for them.
