"There is little interest in ornamental horticulture among young people, because it demands a lot of dedication. I have three children and my brother has two. At the moment, none of them are interested in taking over the business. That used to be quite different. When my parents were our age, we took over the company and modernized it further. Also, there is a lot of uncertainty concerning energy and sales.” Bart Van Nuffelen and his brother Danny run a rose farm in Belgium.
What sort of company is this?
“My brother Danny and I took over the rose farm from our parents in 1998. We grow around eight varieties of roses in different colours, producing year-round. A large proportion of our production is auctioned at Euroveiling. We also offer farm sales.”
