Rainer Ostmann will be opening his seventh Intratuin store in northern Germany this spring. While consumer confidence in Germany is poor due to the economy and politics, his garden centres are little affected. “Our margins are holding up,” he says.
Within a few months, Rainer Ostmann will be opening a new Intratuin branch in the city of Emden in northern Germany. This will be his seventh Intratuin shop after he opened his first branch in 2019, which will be run by his son Jan-Philipp. It was easy to get an appointment for an interview. “Yes, no problem,” Rainer responded. “Our employees get a lot of responsibility, which gives us time and space and them more work enjoyment.”
Rainer understands Dutch well. “We often talk about the Dutch and the German market as if they were two markets, but certainly the North German and Dutch markets are not that different from each other,” he says.
