Jan Gielis runs Belgicactus, a succulents’ nursery in Westerlo, Belgium. The competition is based in the Netherlands. “This year, our competitive position has deteriorated due to indexation, the annual adjustment of wages to inflation. As a result, wages and labour costs suddenly rose by 11% at the beginning of this year,” explains Gielis.
What kind of company are you?
“We are a family business from Westerlo, in the province of Antwerp, specialising in succulents. We sell under our own brand name Fabulous Fat Friend. Our range comprises 80 species of succulents, both indoor and outdoor.”
