Six buildings at the Royal FloraHolland sites in Aalsmeer, Naaldwijk and Rijnsburg have been sold to US-based Hines. "The fact that a very large investor is interested in our locations reflects the level of third-party trust in the strength of the floriculture sector," the auction responds.
Rumours of investment company and property developer Hines owning Royal FloraHolland’s property have been recurring regularly for years, particularly concerning the Naaldwijk location, but also in connection with Aalsmeer. Every time, the auction has reaffirmed that it is still the proprietor of its own auction sites.
In December of 2022, the actual situation became clear when Hines posted a notice on its website claiming that the company owned six properties at Royal FloraHolland's auction sites in Aalsmeer, Naaldwijk and Rijnsburg. Taken together, these buildings cover 92,000 m2. Five of the properties were bought from exporters in recent years. The sixth property, which measures 13,421 m2 and is occupied by Javado and Flowerforce, was held in joint ownership by Royal FloraHolland (51%) and Javado. It yields an annual rental income of over EUR 1.4 million.
