Pink Lady is her nickname as well as her brand name. Pirjo Koppi hails from Finland and is one of the florists who created bouquets during the Floral Fundamentals open-door event on June 24 and 25. She dresses in pink and likes to work with pink flowers, including today. There is even an Iron Lady here, reveals Koppi. No, not a reincarnation of Margaret Thatcher, but a florist who enjoys working with iron.
This is the third or fourth time that Koppi participates in the Floral Fundamentals open door event, which takes place three times per year. This time, 15 florists/designers showcase their techniques and ideas for creating bouquets in three locations: Marginpar, the Boerma Instituut in Aalsmeer and Lugt Lisianthus in Monster.
Koppi, based in Monster this Saturday, says that participating feels very special. “We are talking with growers, and we get to see how they cultivate their flowers, our daily working material. I can tell the customers in my shop that I know the growers as well as the provenance of the flowers. I have good stories to tell, for example about new varieties.”
