As of next year, Nicolai Abildgaard will be the sole shareholder of bygrowers. The Danish potted plant nursery has successfully shifted its focus to the Scandinavian market in recent years. This requires a very wide assortment. "Cooperation with retailers has improved. They need us, and we need them," says Abildgaard when asked about the challenges and opportunities for bygrowers.
"I wouldn't call the transfer of shares a formality, because there will be quite a few changes in the management of bygrowers," Abildgaard continues. As of 1 January 2014, he will take over the shares in bygrowers held by his partners Claus Petersen and Preben Damm. Presently, each partner holds one third of the shares.
In a few months, however, Abildgaard will be the sole shareholder of one of Denmark's largest potted plant nurseries and can call himself the CEO of bygrowers. Two new employees will take the places of Petersen and Damm, but they will not become shareholders.
